Go Baby Go Community Build
November 17, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
GoBabyGo! is a non-profit organization whose mission is to give mobility to children with disabilities using toy cars hacked into motorized wheelchair alternatives. A typical pediatric wheelchair can cost families $25,000 or more.
Every off-season, FIRST Robotics Competition Team 1939 The Barstow Kuhnigits partners with Variety KC and GoBabyGo! to host a community build, where numerous cars are created for KC area families in need, just in time for the holidays.
Each car needs a team of 5-6 people (at least one adult, please), who will work with experienced builders, including engineering, physical therapy and occupational therapy professionals and students, to build and “hack” the car for a child. It only takes a few hours, and then you get the amazing opportunity to see how your STEM skills can change a person’s life.
P.S. For teams who are up for a bigger challenge, please consider a longer build to help a child with more specialized needs.
