KU Natural History Museum: Science On Tap – The Fungi That Love Fire
February 19, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Dr. Benjamin Sikes of the KU Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the KU Biological Survey will present about “The Fungi That Love Fire” at the February Science On Tap at Free State Brewing Company.
Fire is a common management tool that is often necessary to maintain diverse prairies and forests. Sikes will discuss how some mushrooms and other fungi have adapted to repeated fires, and how the functions these particular fungi perform can alter the fuels present for new fires. The 30 minute presentation starts at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A and a prize drawing for fun KU Natural History Museum merch.
