Summer camps provide inspiration for future STEM careers

The 2012 STEM summer enrichment camps served more than 340 middle school students. Students participated in curriculum-based programs in pre-engineering and robotics — giving them hands-on experience and early exposure to STEM. Twenty camps were held for students from 16 public schools, one charter school and three STEM organizations. Students enjoyed field trips to STEM companies including Cerner, KCP&L, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Science City Engineerium, KCMO Water Department and manufacturers including Holland 1916 and R&D Tool.
