STEM Recognition Event Ideas

The Liberty School District launched its first STEAM recognition event this spring to put students planning to pursue STEM/STEAM in the limelight.

Each student received a certificate and recognition pin during the ceremony, which included keynotes from school alumni and friends currently working in STEM fields.

“We have recognized athletes for years for their dedication and commitment to playing sports at the next level,” said Project Lead The Way teacher Brett Kisker. “We wanted to also recognize kids that are displaying the same dedication and commitment to highly needed areas of study.”

For the inaugural event, all students specializing in STEM and/or the arts were invited to apply to take part and more than 30 took advantage of the opportunity, said Colleen Jones, who noted students who are part of an innovative program through the KC Technology Academy were included.
