See How Robotic Recyclers Stack Up at the Greater KC FIRST Robotics Competition

WHO: More than 1,000 high school students representing 54 teams from around the region, participating for a chance to win regional awards and advance to the FIRST World Championship.

WHAT: Greater Kansas City Regional FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)

WHEN: Friday, March 13 – Saturday, March 14, 2015 (schedule below – media access available Thursday)

WHERE: MCC Business & Technology, 1775 Universal Avenue, KC, MO 64120

THE GAME: Teams have just six weeks to build a robot to compete using a kit of parts provided by FIRST and a standard set of rules. The 2015 game, RECYCLE RUSH℠, is played by two Alliances of three teams each—competing in fast-paced matches with student-operated robots—working together to score points by stacking and moving recycling containers and tossing away trash.

PHOTO/INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES: Students testing, tuning up, and competing with their robots— coaches, mentors, team mascots, volunteers—PLUS hundreds and hundreds of fans.

Friday, March 13 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Opening Ceremonies

9:00 a.m. – Noon – Qualification Matches

1:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. – Qualification Matches

5:45 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Awards Ceremony

Saturday, March 14 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Opening Ceremonies

9:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Qualification Matches

1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Final Rounds

4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Awards Ceremony
