North KC Student headed to US Space & Rocket Center

A North Kansas City STEM student has won the opportunity to compete in the Reach for the Stars National Rocket Competition this October in Huntsville, Alabama.

Emily Schmidtlein, who participated in North Kansas City’s summer STEM camp, won the opportunity to celebrate her win at US Space & Rocket Center where they will be awarded a Space Shuttle Challenger commemorative coin with certificate signed by Astronaut Jon McBride who piloted the Challenger on earlier missions. Emily will get to view amazing Space Artifacts, experience Astronaut Simulations and launch from Space Camp’sHomer Hickam Field under an “October Sky” (10/24/15) in “Rocket City” Huntsville Alabama.

North Kansas City’s 2015 summer STEM camp was supported with grant funding from KC STEM Alliance.
