KC STEM Alliance partners with national organization to bring hands-on, real world experience to increase self-confidence in young women’s abilities in science and engineering
National Perry Initiative to bring Anatomical Models, Real Surgical Hardware and Leading Industry Healthcare Experts for Workshop Geared for Kansas City High School Girls
Kansas City, Mo. – Committed to inspiring young women to be leaders in the fields of Orthopedic Surgery and Engineering, The Perry Initiative will bring its hands-on mobile national outreach program to Kansas City on October 20, 2012. In partnership with KC STEM Alliance, the one-day free workshop and will be held at Metropolitan Health Community College – Penn Valley Health Science Institute, located at 3444 Broadway.
“By using anatomical models with real surgical hardware, the young women who attend our programs throughout the nation may learn a variety of surgical repairs, from tibia to shoulder fractures and cervical spine fusion to scoliosis correction surgery, and much more,” said Jenni Buckley, Ph.D., co-founder and executive director of The Perry Initiative. Ms. Buckely is also the Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Delaware.
