KC region teams head to international FIRST Championship in Houston

Executives and staff from MRIGlobal toast students from the Paseo Academy of the Fine and Performing Arts as they prepare for their first trip to the FIRST Championship in Houston. The team, which builds at the KC Engineering Zone, is sending four members along with four mentors/staff from MRIGlobal. MRIGlobal has sponsored the team since its inception in 2006.

The Kansas City region will be well represented at the FIRST Championship in Houston April 18-21 with 16 FIRST Robotics Competition teams, two FIRST Tech Challenge teams, one FIRST LEGO League team and one FIRST LEGO League Jr. team joining thousands of other students on the world stage.

With all the heart-pounding thrills and team spirit of a professional sporting event, FIRST uses robotics as the backbone for the “only sport where every kid can go pro.” Guided by mentors and STEM professionals, and supported by FIRST sponsors, FIRST teams inspire kids in grades K-12 to explore the innovation process and build STEM and digital-literacy skills.

Faith Academy’s Faith First team of Kansas City will represent FIRST LEGO League Jr., with Lawrence’s Team Green Hole representing FIRST LEGO League.
