Transportation YOU Fall Event: Creating a Bicycle Friendly Community
October 6, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 1:30 pm
Transportation YOU is partnering with BikeWalkKC for this STEM program on integrating bicycle facilities into our transportation systems. Participants will conduct a bicycle audit of an existing street network to identify the quality of the existing bicycle facilities and then be part of a planning and design brainstorm to identify ways the existing streets could be modified to provide a better bicycle network.
The event will also explore the role of advocacy in planning for alternative modes of transportation such as bicycles within our transportation network. This activity will be led by a team of transportation planners, engineers and bicycle advocates. Donuts will be provided in the morning followed by a lunch before we learn bicycle safety tips and head out on a bike ride. This free activity is open to all girls 11-18, with a WTS Fun Badge available for $5.
