Start a FIRST LEGO League Team Workshops

FreeFind out what’s involved with starting a FIRST LEGO League team for young people in kindergarten through 8th grade during these free informational sessions at the KC STEM Alliance offices on Saturday, Aug. 20.
11 a.m. to 12:30: FIRST LEGO League Explore (grades K-3)
12:30 to 1 p.m.: Break
1 to 2:30 pm: FLL Challenge (grades 3-8)
You can attend one or both sessions, which are designed to help you understand what’s required to start a team at your school, youth organization or neighborhood group. This also is a great opportunity for Rookie Teams, Rookie Coaches and Mentors, and young teams to learn and ask questions.
Topics include:
– Overview of the program
– What the season looks like
– How to register a team
– Typical budget and what you need (supplies, equipment)
– What a typical meeting looks like (structure, space, etc )
– Functions to fill within a team
– Where to go for help
– Questions/Answers
Please note that this seminar does not replace the Coaches’ Workshops for registered FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams. That workshop in September includes detailed information about the new challenge, building and programming the robot and judging.
