Science City’s Science Wise: Facts v Discovery in the Science & Engineering Practices
December 1, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Science City’s Science Wise professional development opportunities include innovative, instructional techniques for all STEM educators. Each course includes hands-on demos; science standards; resources and more.
In this session with Ollie Bogdon, Ph.D., explore the PRACTICE of science and engineering through discovery-based investigations. Educators will identify and use teaching skills to promote student use of the Science and Engineering Practices. Using the eight practices as an entry point to build science literacy will help move beyond just the facts into a deeper understanding that helps students obtain scientific knowledge through the process of discovery. The session applies to grades K-12.
