Saturday STEM Seminar: Music, a Total Brain Workout
February 8, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
FreeDuring Science City’s Saturday STEM Seminars, STEM professionals present hot topics in science, technology, engineering and math as well as highlights of their education and career paths. A Q&A session follows. The seminars, geared toward students in grades 7-12, are open to the public. Registration is required, but walk-ups are welcome!
Music can activate almost all brain regions and networks! In this seminar, learn from Stephanie Ramirez, a musician and speech language pathologist, about how your brain responds to music and how music can be used in therapy.
Stephanie has been practicing speech-language pathology since 2009 in various settings, primarily focusing on acute care and outpatient rehabilitation with adults. In February of 2021, Stephanie founded the virtual Brain Injury Support Group through North Kansas City Hospital which meets monthly and serves individuals from Missouri to California. She is passionate about sharing information with the community and has been a featured speaker at several conferences.
