Ever wonder if there are fossils in your yard?…Why a rock is not a gem? What came first, the chicken or the egg?
The Museum at Prairiefire Summer Camp is your chance to explore the world and find answers to these burning questions and so much more. Dig into natural history through authentic, hands-on exploration of fossils, rocks and gems, insects and more in a hands-on Discovery Camp.
Students will dig fossils they can keep; collect and pin insects; and grow their own minerals. Those who complete Discover Camp are eligible to participate in the “Discover the Field Camp Out” in central Kansas, Saturday, June 13, through Sunday, June 14. Using knowledge gained in Discover Camp, campers will participate in two days of fossil hunting and all things nature during an overnight camp out led by MAP scientists.
Fees include round-trip transportation, camp grounds, park entry fees, rock and fossil collecting materials, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner, snacks, and beverages. This event is for ages 10-14.
