Ever wonder if there are fossils in your yard? Why a rock is not a gem? What came first, the chicken or the egg? This Museum at Prairiefire Camp is a chance to explore the world like never before and find answers to these burning questions and so much more!

Dig into natural history through authentic, hands-on exploration of fossils, rocks and gems, insects and more. Students will dig fossils they can keep, collect and pin insects, and grow their own minerals!

Discover the Field Overnight Camp Out
Those who complete Discover Camp are eligible to participate in the “Discover the Field Camp Out” in central Kansas, Saturday, June 22, through Sunday, June 23. Using knowledge gained in Discover Camp, campers will participate in two days of fossil hunting and all things nature during an overnight camp out led by MAP scientists. Includes round-trip transportation, camp grounds, park entry fees, rock and fossil collecting materials, two breakfasts, two lunches, one dinner, snacks and beverages. (Plus a campfire, s’mores and stories.)
