KC STEM Summit 2021: PART 1 // State of STEM + Diversity & Inclusion Session

FreeKC STEM Summit 2021 is designed for members of Kansas City’s learning community to connect, collaborate and communicate with other organizations offering STEM-related experiences in the Kansas City region.
With the Delta variant surge, we’re pivoting to a new way to convene and share updates by taking all of the components we once would have covered in person and breaking them into three separate pieces. Here’s how it will work:
PART 1 // State of STEM + Diversity & Inclusion Session (via Zoom)
3 p.m. Wednesday, September 8
Our community needs a diverse, innovative STEM workforce and that cannot be achieved without addressing the racial and gender gaps in STEM education. After a brief “State of STEM in KC” update, Dr. Nicole Price, a chemical engineer and CEO of Lively Paradox, will help us look at what’s possible when we work together to build a more equitable learning community. Dr. Price will share practical, actionable steps we can take as educators, nonprofits and business leaders to be more inclusive.
PART 2 // Putting Data to Work in Your Organization and in Your Community (via Zoom)
Noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, September 15
In this session moderated by The DeBruce Foundation’s Senior Director Robin Smith, we’ll dive into why and how the data we capture can be put to work in powerful ways that improve our individual programs, empower students and families and deepen our understanding about our learning ecosystem’s effectiveness.
PART 3 // Remake Learning Days Celebration & Networking
4-6 p.m. Wednesday, September 15

With proper precautions (including an indoor/outdoor venue, masks when indoors and a plea to get vaccinated if you have not already!) we look forward to stepping away from our screens and meeting together to celebrate a very successful Remake Learning Days festival and share stories, reflections and ideas for next year. Snacks and soft drinks to be provided. NOTE: This is open to all, whether or not you hosted a Remake Learning Days activity or event! Please preregister to help us plan.
