INVENTION PROJECT (Girls Only) | Kansas City, MO
June 8, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 am
Invention Project, associated with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, enables girls entering 6th-9th grades to explore the edges of innovation through dreaming, designing, engineering and creating. Teams will create designs in response to challenges and prompts generated by today’s citizen consumers.
This summer, girls will design and build their own prototype research vehicles, research production for aquariums, decipher codes to grow sustainable food and recover wreckage materials for building survival inventions. They will participate in rapid prototyping of sports products, perform lab analysis to save a pet, explore patents, trademarks, copyrights and more.
The invention itself is part one; introducing and integrating an invention into the world is part two. Innovators are challenged to consider principles of business such as rapid prototyping and revision, market research, advertisement, distribution, and profit. Throughout the process, campers will have the opportunity to sketch, incubate, prototype, test, reflect and refine ideas within mentored peer groups.
Participants will enjoy the small group leadership of St. Teresa’s Academy (STA) high school students during this summer collaboration. This Invention Project location meets 8 to 11:30 a.m. daily June 8-12.
