Block Kids Building Competition

Block Kids Building Competition is a national building competition sponsored locally by the National Association of Women in Construction Greater Kansas City Chapter. The award-winning program introduces children to the construction industry as they explore their creative side while using LEGO building blocks, string, foil and construction paper.

Competition Structure and Winners

    • Local winners advance to Regional Competitions
    • One semi-finalist from each region is entered in the National Program competition
    • National prizes are awarded to the top three projects!

Along with the building competition, children in grades 1-6 can participate in other activities, including:

Trades Fair

Kids learn “hands-on” from real construction workers about bricklaying, concrete finishing, plastering, carpentry and more.

Career Fair

Kids and parents have the opportunity to talk with professionals who work in construction and related fields.

Tool Talk

Do you know how many kinds of hammers exist? Kids will learn all about the different types of tools that are used in construction in this fun and interactive demonstration.
