2024 KC One Health Day: Food as Medicine
November 1 @ 10:45 am - 3:00 pm
One Health Day is an international event every fall that highlights and celebrates the complex interrelationships between human, animal and environmental health. This year’s theme Food as Medicine will focus on how food impacts human health, animal health and the role our environment plays in providing nutritious, healthy foods. Kansas City’s One Health Day is a collaboration by K-State, BioNexus KC, the KU Edwards Campus and University of Kansas Medical Center.
College and high school students are invited to submit an abstract for a poster presentation and compete for cash scholarship awards (high school-$200, undergraduate-$300, and graduate-$400) by presenting their research in person, whether it be from a bench, clinical, or literature review experience, with projects from a previous competition allowed. Any One Health research topic is acceptable. One Health topics might include, but are not limited to, emerging infectious diseases, food safety and security, antimicrobial resistance, invasive species, environmental pollution and loss of biodiversity.
The deadline is Oct. 9, 2024. See the details.
Note: There is a registration fee for this lunch event. Student poster presenters will receive a fee waiver after submitting an abstract. Scholarships for other students are available to cover registration fees. To apply, contact Shaylee Yount with name, institution, and brief statement of what interests you about the KC One Health Day event.
