KU Natural History Museum’s Science on Tap: Applications in GIS

October 16, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

During this Science on Tap organized by the KU Natural History Museum, KU Geography Ph.D. student James Coll will discuss the importance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and how drones are poised to revolutionize the GIS field and how we view the world.

Unmanned Aerial Systems, more commonly referred to as drones, have gone from specialized instruments to commonplace holiday gifts in the span of a few short years. This takeoff of technology impacts the economic and societal realms and touches on topics such as privacy, economic feasibility, safety and communication. Equally as important, but rarely mentioned, is the current and future impact of drones on the sciences.

Event is for adults 18+.
