Murdock’s invention is called the “Peacemaker,” intended for police as an intimidation compliance device that has 7.8 million volts of electricity. More than 250 students from 11 Kansas City-area school districts were scheduled to participate in the event, part of a national effort to get more students interested in careers involving science, engineering and technology. The students, grouped in more than 100 teams, displayed projects they had developed in engineering design or biomedical innovation.
