Out of the Gate: Students work with programs and concepts real engineers use on a daily basis

In Gateway to Technology, a new class at Kearney Middle School, students are given the opportunity to work with programs and concepts real engineers use on a daily basis.

The class, which operates under the umbrella of the high school program Project Lead the Way begun two years ago, aligns with the district’s recent push to promote math and science education.

“Since we’re the only secondary school in which all kids go through the same certain electives, we thought it would be a way to get students into some of these classes and get them thinking in that frame of mind,” Bart Woods, principal of Kearney Middle School said.
