KC RiBS’ Science on Tap: The Usefulness of ‘Useless Knowledge’
October 29, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Kansas City Researchers in Biomedical Science, or KC RiBS, is a group of young scientists promoting interaction among research institutions and beyond while also creating professional development opportunities for members. One of the group’s first outreach events—Science on Tap at the Cinder Block Brewery—is aimed at students, parents, teachers and anyone else interested in STEM.
During the free event, Dr. Alejandro Sánchez Alvarado, HHMI Investigator at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and recent inductee into the National Academy of Sciences, will discuss how studies in seemingly mundane and insignificant organisms have produced paradigm-shifting ideas that have transformed our understanding of biology.
