Design the Future Kansas | STEM Camp
July 29, 2019 - August 3, 2019
Design the Future is an immersive Design Thinking & STEM summer program in which students work to solve some of the biggest challenges facing the world today.
During this intensive program, created by DC Design and developed in collaboration with the Institute of Design at Stanford (the d.school) and K12 Lab, students work to design solutions to real problems faced by individuals with physical disabilities. The program partners teams of high school students and their university design coach with an individual possessing a physical disability.
Over the course of six days, students learn about disability and are taught to design solutions to real problems faced by their project partner. The program, which is held in collaboration with top universities, exposes high school students to the college environment and gives them a chance to interact with the university students, all while creating a product that will improve the quality of life of someone with a disability.
The camp runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 29-Aug. 2 and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 3.
