Computer Science Education Week starts December 7 and with it comes multiple opportunities for tech career exploration and ideas for how to turn fun exploration exercises like the Hour of Code into next steps for students. Check out these opportunities:

PLTW Cybersecurity Event

3-4:30 p.m. CST, Tuesday, Dec. 8
With more than 500,000 cybersecurity job openings nationwide, demand for professionals in the field continues to grow across the industry, government, and educational sectors. Join Project Lead The Way (PLTW) on December 8 to learn about your role in closing the cybersecurity skills gap as you join a conversation with industry professionals, educators and students.

The keynote speaker from PLTW industry partner Amazon Web Services (AWS) will talk about “Closing the Cybersecurity Skills Gap,” followed by a panel discussion with Lockheed Martin and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.The virtual event will end with PLTW students and teachers sharing about their learning in PLTW Cybersecurity. CS for All Visioning Webinar

3:30 p.m. CST Thursday, Dec. 10
Join CSforALL for an interactive session where you will journey through a visioning activity designed to help you identify YOUR vision for CS in your school or district. You will then work to define CS in your district which will help turn your vision into action. This session will be hosted by CSforALL’s Executive Director Leigh Ann De Lyser and other CSforALL Staff. This session is geared towards administrators, school leaders and teachers. Computer Science Week – Go Pro in Tech

The Missouri Math and Science Coalition in partnership with the Missouri Afterschool Network will host one-hour spotlights on  career pathways in IT/Tech throughout the week. IT professionals will Zoom in to explain what they do in a given day, take students through a live demonstration of their work, discuss their career pathway and what they love most about their work. Students of all grade levels are welcome to attend, learn and interact with these Tech Pros!
