03 Jan 2019 2019 Kansas KidWind Challenge
The KidWind Challenge is a wind energy-learning experience for 4th—12th grade students. Teams can be formed from public or private school groups, scout troops, 4-H programs, home school groups or friends on the block. The goal is to have fun building a device that converts moving wind into electricity, learning STEM skills along the way.
Participating students will:
- Design, build, and test a functional, creative wind turbine
- Compete with their peers in a supportive environment
- Discover the promise and limitations of wind energy technology
This year, the KidWind Challenge expands to include four regional competitions before the statewide Challenge.

- SE Kansas Regional – 3/1/19 (Fri): Burlington (Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant) – register
- NW Kansas Regional – 3/7/19 (Thu): Oakley (Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center) – register
- Statewide – 3/30/19 (Sat): Topeka (Kansas Museum of History) – by invitation to top teams
