The Urban Farming Guys

The Urban Farming Guys is a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization whose mission is to help disadvantaged communities rebuild from within. Our focus is to build local economy, capacity, and resiliency through our MakerSpace and Urban Farm, while giving back to the global open source community.

The MakerSpace is a community center that aims to bring resources to the Lykins Neighborhood and the greater Kansas City community. By providing people with access to machines like 3D printers and laser cutters, and to spaces like our coming textiles lab and certified kitchen and woodshop, residents and makers are empowered to dream and create.

Our urban farm began by transforming empty plots of land into dozens of community gardens. Scattered throughout the Lykins neighborhood, these garden plots provide a space for residents to grow their own food—fostering a sense of community and healthy eating in the process.
