KC STEM now accepting applications for summer STEM enrichment programs

he KC STEM Alliance is pleased to announce that grant funds are available to support a limited number of STEM summer enrichment programs targeting middle and high school students in the KC metro region.  Grant requests may be made up to $2500 per program and are intended to increase the number and diversity of students prepared for college and careers in science, technology, engineering and Math (STEM.)  Funds for this initiative originate from the generosity of multiple funders to the KC STEM Alliance, including the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

 Objectives of the Summer STEM Enrichment Initiative

  • Engage and excite students in STEM;
  • Encourage students to enroll in the Gateway to Technology program or other Project Lead the Way courses at the high school level;
  • Encourage  participation in robotics programs and formation of new FIRST Lego League teams;
  • Support STEM college and career initiatives and academic enrichment;
  • Prepare a more diverse group of students to participate in STEM by providing support to populations under-represented in the STEM field including females.
